“I don’t normally open direct mail letters, but something about this one called to me,” said Chantal Borst.
Chantal Borst is an SLC graduate (Integrated Marketing Communications 2003) who chose to make her first gift to the College this year and establish the Resiliency Bursary, which will be awarded to a Marketing student who has overcome personal or economic challenges to pursuing their learning goals, with special consideration for equity-deserving students or single parents.
As a previous bursary recipient herself, Chantal remembers the difference that donor support makes for SLC students and considers the Resiliency Bursary a way for her SLC story to come full circle. As a Leadership Development Consultant for the City of Ottawa’s Community & Social Services department Chantal’s work has a direct impact on underrepresented and marginalized persons every day. The Resiliency Bursary is a marriage of Chantal’s lived experiences and professional passion, and she is truly #ProudToBeSLC.
Important Dates for Bursaries
SLC students can learn more about applying for bursaries and scholarships. The Fall Round of bursaries will open July 18, 2022, and close September 18, 2022. The Winter Round of bursaries will open November 28, 2022, and close January 22, 2023.
