FAQs about online learning at SLC

SLC's online courses are interactive and engaging, taking your learning to new levels. Some are offered in partnership with other colleges and are valid towards your SLC credentials. All courses are offered using a Learning Management System (LMS).

Some courses are synchronous, meaning students must attend at the scheduled time with faculty and students.

Other courses are asynchronous, meaning there are no scheduled lectures or meeting times. Students progress independently through the course syllabus week by week, meeting all the curriculum requirements by set deadlines

International students interested in online learning should first connect with your International Student Advisor (ISA) to see if online offerings are right for you. Your ISA can also discuss if additional fees may apply and help review current guidelines and rules that may impact your Study Permit or Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility.

International students can take a few online courses, but you are not permitted to take your entire program online.  The IRCC states you must complete at least 50% of your program in class inside Canada.  The time you spend studying outside of Canada will be deducted from the length of your PGWP.

If there is an approved Online Course Equivalency for your on-campus course, you may be able to complete it online and apply the credit to your program. Learn more.

Please consult academic policy to ensure you will meet residency requirements for your SLC credential. International students should also consult their International Student Advisor to ensure their approved study permit is not compromised.

Details on how to apply to online programs are found directly on the individual program pages.  Or contact us (link to ask form) for or more information
