After writing the Common Final Examination (CFE), five SLC Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) grads were successful this year and will be admitted to the Chartered Professional Accountant's membership.

The graduates are:

  • Molly Abeles, BBA
  • Daniel Dudenhoffer, Advanced Accounting Diploma and BBA
  • Brandon Haystead, BBA
  • Joshua Quesnelle, Advanced Marketing Diploma and BBA
  • Chris Rowsell Advanced Accounting Diploma and BBA

"An undergraduate degree is an entrance requirement to CPA's professional program, which is a graduate-level program, along with certain preparatory courses," said Amanda Simmers, CPA, a professor in the BBA program. "The Laurentian BBA offers these preparatory courses which can be completed as part of the degree."

Students who meet the requirements to enroll with CPA spend approximately two years, while working in the field, completing the graduate-level program culminating in the Common Final Examination (CFE).

"The Laurentian BBA program at St. Lawrence College allowed me to connect directly with experienced faculty through smaller class sizes. This helped me to build the fundamental accounting principles and emphasis on critical thinking that I truly feel gave me a leg up when entering the CPA Professional Education Program. I would personally recommend the BBA program at SLC to anyone looking to complete their CPA designation as I have," said Brandon Haystead.

Over the last eight years, approximately 16 students from the SLC BBA program went on to pass the CFE and obtain their CPA designation in Ontario and abroad with varying numbers in each year.
