Hello folks,
I hope you had a rejuvenating long weekend! I am writing to share that effective June 1, SLC will no longer require masks to be worn on campus or in SLC facilities, unless PPE is a requirement of the learning or work environment.
As we lift this final protocol related to COVID-19, I want to encourage anyone who has a personal preference or reason to continue wearing a mask, to feel comfortable doing so. Please remember that people can have different reasons for continuing to wear a mask, and that anyone choosing to wear a mask on campus past June 1 is exercising their individual right to do so and are to be treated with respect.
We will continue to provide medical grade masks at security offices on each campus, for any SLC students who wish to have one. Note that SLC Campus Health Centres will continue to require masks, as this is in keeping with different infection control requirements within clinical health settings. Anyone with an appointment at a campus health centre who arrives without a mask will be provided with one. Specific programs and labs that have a PPE requirement will continue with processes currently in place.
As always, I’m encouraging everyone to be vaccinated according to the recommended schedule and frequency, and if you are not feeling well, to please avoid spreading illness by staying home.
Together as a college, we have navigated incredible change and situations unlike any other over the past two years. As we continue to evolve in our response and our protocols, and follow the guidance of public health, I am grateful for the respect and care I see our students showing, for each other and for the health of our shared community.
Sincerely,
Glenn
