Donating to a fundraiser to buy new socks for Kingston’s needy through Socks Kingston will also help students in SLC’s Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program. The students will be at a table in the cafeteria December 6-10 from 10:30-2:30 collecting new socks and money to go towards the purchase of socks.

The fundraiser is part of the students’ Placement Simulation course where they develop core employability skills to prepare going into the community on placement. Part of this is running a fundraiser/event where students are in charge of all aspects with guidance and oversight from CICE program staff. Students build on their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while also demonstrating skills learned in their area of interest. The poster for this fundraiser was designed by a student with an interest in Graphic Design.

The CICE program is a two-year certificate program designed for adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or other significant learning challenges who wish to further their education/vocational training in a community college setting. The CICE program is available on our three campuses.

Due to COVID restrictions and fewer people being on campus, the students have also set up a GoFundMe to raise money to buy new socks for Kingston’s needy.
