February is Black History and Futures Month in Canada - join us this month as we celebrate Black identities, achievements, and communities, and share in the journey of continued learning. Black History and Futures Month is a time to not only reflect and continue our learning as it relates to Black history in Canada and around the world, it is also a time to engage with the excellence, entrepreneurism, and cultural impact of Black folks in the world.
We are excited to kick off Black History and Futures Month celebrations on Friday, February 7 with SLC’s Black History and Futures Month Basketball and Black Business Market on Kingston campus. During the event, there will be activities for attendees to reflect on their commitment to engage with Black History and Futures Month, and in-game giveaways of themed t-shirts, stickers, and donated prizes from external partners. The market will take place in the upper concourse above the gym coinciding with the games and is a space to engage with local Black-owned businesses to show support not just in February, but year-round.
SLC Surge vs. La Cite Coyotes, 6PM (women) and 8PM (men) in the gym
Black Business Market, 5:30-9PM in the upper concourse
Including booths from Pedal Works Cafe & Studios, Cher Mere Day Spa, CB Butterlicious
