Graduating students from Music & Digital Media recently held their year-end live performance showcase at The Broom Factory, one of Kingston's major arts hubs. Students, their families and friends, and faculty attended to support them.
Performances ranged from solo guitar and acoustic duets to diverse combinations of students playing original and cover songs in rock, alternative, jazz, and folk genres. Student Jay Eiygyun served as DJ, including a brief rave production of his own creation.
Professors Jonathan Stewart, Fouad Bestandji, and program coordinator Mark Bergin all took part in supporting the event. Bestandji, who teaches video production in the program, recorded the event. Bergin covered photography of the show. Stewart served as Emcee, introducing the students and for one song even took the stage playing sax along with several of his students.
At the end of each academic year, graduating students from the Music & Digital Media program hold three major events:
- an online showcase highlighting their sound and digital skills;
- a multi-media (including sound) live exhibition of their culminating installations;
- a live music performance showcase
For some of the students, this showcase marked their first time performing in front of a live audience, highlighting their skills from the two-year program.
