June is a busy month at SLC!

Hello folks,

June is gearing up to be a busy and exciting month at SLC and I wanted to update our community about some of the major events in our calendar, as a reminder and invitation to participate wherever and whenever possible.

First, June marks a truly special time of the year for our college: Convocation! Many of you know one of the things I love most about my job is walking the halls of our beautiful campuses and chatting with everyone I meet along the way – our amazing students and my colleagues alike. Connecting with our people fills me with gratitude and purpose.

Convocation takes that feeling to a whole new level. Witnessing our students become graduates as they walk across the stage to accept their hard-earned diplomas makes me so proud. I’m looking forward to congratulating each and every one of our new grads at our upcoming ceremonies. Convocation is a college-wide, massive team effort, and I thank everyone who volunteers and takes part in making the ceremonies run smoothly. For all the details about Convocation at SLC please click here.

June also marks two very important national observances – National Indigenous History Month, and Pride. I know folks are working hard to plan meaningful ways we can all participate, learn, and become better allies. SLC strives to be a place where everyone feels they belong, and I invite you all to watch for upcoming activities and learning opportunities this month. Updates will be shared weekly in Our College News, via email, and on our website.

Finally, I’m also thrilled to celebrate the College’s 10-year anniversary of the Community Integration through Cooperative Education, or CICE program. What an amazing achievement! On June 12, the College is holding a celebration on the Kingston campus to mark this important milestone and I hope if you can, that you’ll make the time to stop by and take part. For all the details please visit SLC’s website.

Between celebrating our graduates, participating and supporting events for Pride and National Indigenous History Month, and celebrating milestones for our programs and students, June is a month where we can come together and be reminded of the many reasons we have to be #ProudtobeSLC.

Wishing everyone a terrific month,

Glenn
