The SLC Information Technology team is excited to announce an upgrade to SLC’s student and employee portal, slc.me. Effective with the completion of the Friday, July 16 maintenance window, people will see a cleaner, easier to navigate interface when they log on. Nothing changes about how people find slc.me, however after the upgrade, sign-in will require people to enter their SLC email address instead of their shorter SLC account name.
Key updates include mobile optimization for the site, so anyone accessing it on a phone will find it automatically sizes for viewing, and the new platform eliminates accessibility issues and limitations the prior version had, in terms of font size, colour, and the use of images. Additionally, this upgrade improves the security of the portals, which is an important ongoing project IT is working on, to protect SLC data and users from being compromised.
A key accessibility improvement provided by the upgrade is the inclusion of the Immersive Reader mode, which provides for large print formats with adjustable font and contrast settings, and a built-in text-to-audio narration with speed controls for the narration.
