In celebration of Pride month and as a year-round visible symbol of Pride and Belonging, student and employee volunteers painted rainbow walkways on each SLC campus in June. On June 24, the Cornwall team of volunteers painted the rainbow walkway in front of the main entrance at Moulinette Hall. On June 28, volunteers painted the rainbow walkway in the courtyard between the E33 entrance to the green wing and the E32 entrance to the Student Life and Innovation Centre. Earlier in the month, volunteers painted the intersex-inclusive progress pride flag in a new location on the Brockville campus, the walkway between residence and campus, which intersects with another path that cuts across campus to Magedoma Blvd. The original rainbow stairs near the main entrance were also repainted.

The rainbow walkways include the colours used on the Progress Pride Flag, created by digital designer Daniel Quasar, which added black and brown to represent people of colour as well as pink, baby blue, and white to represent the trans community.

If you haven’t yet had a chance, take the time to read about SLC’s Community of Pride, the result of the Pride committee’s invitation to 2SLGBTQIA+ persons and allies to share their insight into what building a community of Pride at SLC looks like and to share a bit about who they are in this community. Thank you to everyone who shared their insight and stories. The form will stay open for members of our community to submit their profile/story year-round.
