The 14th annual SLC Accounting Case Competition was held virtually on February 2, 2023. Third year Business Administration – Accounting program student teams participated in this action-learning opportunity.
During the competition, participants were tasked with analyzing an accounting case study and to present their findings to a panel of judges comprised of accounting professionals. This event contributes to the ongoing experiential learning of our students and reinforces real-world skills that are necessary for success in an accounting career.
This event forces students out of their comfort zone and we push students off the cliff so that they realize that they are able to thrive in a stressful situation and to accomplish amazing results. Year after year, our judges are amazed by the accomplishments and talent of our students. It also is an event that showcases what a great community and network we have of students, faculty, graduates, and employers. The event brings everyone together. Many of our graduates have commented that the accounting competition was one of the highlights in the Business Administration – Accounting program.
Congratulations to the top three teams:
- 1st place: Eric Wickes, Randeep Singh, and Diane Osborne
- 2nd place: Toronna Otter, Lesley MacKinnon, and Nick Irwin
- 3rd place: Alyssa Batchellor, Morgan Lanctot, and Madison Brown
The top two teams will move on to represent SLC in this year’s Ontario Colleges Accounting Case Competition to be held at SLC’s Kingston campus on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Congratulations to all the participants! Also a big thank you to our volunteers, including Jamie Puddicombe, Michelle Paquin, Molly Abeles, and Brad Green.
