SLC’s annual United Way campaign wrapped up on November 5 to a resounding success. Building on last year’s record of $13,686 raised, the goal of $15,000 was exceeded with a total of $15,820 raised.
The two-week campaign featured three speakers for the SLC United Way Guest Speaker Series, with almost 150 members of the SLC community attending virtually:
- Chelsea Anderson, Housing Program Manager with Connect Youth, spoke about services and programs to help youth in Leeds & Grenville adjust through difficult periods in their lives to enable them to reach their full potential and be productive adults in their communities.
- Stephen Douris, chair of Bereaved Families of Ontario – South Eastern Region, spoke about mental health supports in the Cornwall region through the Bereaved Families of Ontario
- Shawn Quigley, Executive Director of Youth Diversion in Kingston, spoke about how they help youth overcome challenges by providing prevention, intervention and educational services that divert youth from risk and support their ability to thrive.
