In-Year Awards

SLC donor sponsored and supported bursaries and scholarships.

In-year awards are for students returning to the college for the following school year or students who will be entering their first year at St. Lawrence College.

Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, we were able to provide over $350,000 in financial assistance to over 500 students across our three campuses last year!

Athletic Awards

This award recognizes one male and one female student-athlete who excelled in their sport while demonstrating a high level of skill, coachability and fair play. They will have superior athletic achievements while maintaining good academic standing and having a positive presence in the community.

This award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honouring one male and one female who have maintained high academic standing amongst their peers, while also making a significant contribution to their team and having a positive presence in the community.

Awarded in memory of Travis Sage, whose sportsmanship, heart and love of the game earned him the respect of his fellow players. The recipient of the Travis Sage Memorial Bursary will be a rookie men’s rugby player who shared Travis' commitment to make an impact.

This award recognizes one student-athlete for their outstanding work ethic, dedication and contribution through volunteering to develop and promote sport. This student works hard to assist the Athletic Department in its initiatives while maintaining good academic standing and having a positive presence in the community.

Various athletic financial awards are available for new and returning varsity student-athletes for the purpose of recruitment and retention.

Indigenous Students

Each year Indigenous students can apply for one of the approximately 12 Indigenous Student Bursaries. Applications usually become available in October.

Kingston

401 Electric Ltd Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in the Electrician: Construction and Maintenance - Apprenticeship, Electrical Engineering Technician, or Energy Systems Engineering Technician/Technology programs. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Access to Opportunity Award

Awarded to a full-time first-year or returning student who has overcome personal challenges to pursue their learning goals. Preference will be given to applicants who have benefited from community-based assistance such as: literacy training, New Canadian immigrant services, counselling or support programs. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Advertising Club of Toronto "Connector of the Class" Award

Awarded to students in their second-last year in the Advertising and Marketing Communications Program, on the Kingston Campus. Awarded to those students who best exhibit networking and relationship building skills: the "Connector of the Class".

 

Advocis, Kingston Chapter Bursary

Awarded to a returning student in the School of Business, Kingston campus, who has demonstrated the qualities required for success in personal financial planning. Candidates should demonstrate personal organization, advance planning, goal setting, and work ethic. Preference will be given to students whose volunteer work includes financial literacy education, including participation in Enactus.

 

Afro-Caribe Community Foundation Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program on the Kingston Campus who is from the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora or with Canadian parents of said background. Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in his/her academic, technical or artistic endeavour and contributed to the St. Lawrence College community or the Kingston community. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Albert and Anne Francis Scholarship

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program on the Kingston Campus. Based on an outstanding commitment to providing personal and compassionate patient care. Applicant Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Amherst Island Wind Project Bursary Fund

Awarded to a Wind Turbine Technician on the Kingston campus who is passionate to pursue a career in renewable wind energy. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

 

Angella Scott Memorial Fund

Awarded to a student in their graduating year of the Social Service Worker Program on Kingston Campus, who has overcome an obstacle in achieving success in their program. Preference will be given to a mature student and/or a student with a documented learning disability.

 

Anne Brant and Lin Spence Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in the Hairstylist program on the Kingston campus. Applicants must have demonstrated a personal commitment to the community through leadership or significant participation in the class-room or off-campus projects. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Arts and Science, Outstanding Achievement Award

Awarded to a student returning to a full-time post-secondary program in a Fall semester at the Kingston campus, after having spent at least two semesters as a full-time Arts and Science student and has shown the greatest commitment to learning over two consecutive semesters. Determined by a combination of grade point average improvement and staff recommendations. Consideration given to students who have overcome difficult personal circumstances in order to continue formal education. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Arts and Science/Graphic Design Academic Commitment Award

Awarded to a returning Arts and Science or Graphic Design student who has demonstrated consistent commitment to their academic work and achieved a standing of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to a Mature student and the applicant must demonstrate financial need.

 

ATEC Technology Scholarships

Awarded to first-year or returning students in the following programs at St. Lawrence College Kingston campus: Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Systems Technician, Computer Programming & Analysist, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technician, Energy Systems Engineering, Wind Turbine Technician/Industrial Electrician and Veterinary Technology. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Betty Boone Bursary

Awarded to a mature student in second or third year on the Kingston campus who has demonstrated leadership qualities in school and/or through volunteer activities in their community. Must have maintained a passing grade. Applicants should describe their decision to return to school and career aspirations. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Bresee Family - Loyalist Township Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student in any program, who is a resident of Loyalist Township.

 

Brown's Boys and Girls Club Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program on the Kingston campus who is an active member of the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area. Applicants must have demonstrated significant contribution to enhancing the quality of life for children in the community. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Brown's Pathways to Education Bursary

Awarded to a graduate of the Pathways to Education program in Kingston, in their first-year of any full-time program at St. Lawrence College. Preference will be given to students who reside in the "North End" of Kingston, Ontario. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Bud Gormley Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a returning Culinary Management student on the Kingston campus, who has demonstrated leadership and initiative through their program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Bus Admin Accounting Alumni Award for Academic Achievement

Created by Alynn Boyle, Class of 2004, the award recognizes a mature student with strong academic standing in the second year of the Business Administration - Accounting program on the Kingston campus.

 

Calvin Bansfield Bursary

Created in honour of Calvin Bansfield, a long-time professor in mathematics at SLC, the bursary is Awarded to a student of Afro-Caribbean descent, enrolled in any diploma program on the Kingston Campus. Preference will be given to a student in a Business or Technology program. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

 

Canadian Federation of University Women Kingston Award

Awarded to a returning full-time female student on the Kingston campus who is in her final year of study and has maintained grades of a B average or better. Applicants must be Ontario Resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Canadian GeoExchange Coalition Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in the Energy Systems Engineering Technology (ESET) at the Kingston Campus. Applicants will have demonstrated academic achievement and interest in making a positive impact on the environment through the geothermal industry. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Canadian Health Care Engineering Society of Ontario Award

Awarded to a second year Electrical Engineering Technician student who has the highest grade point average.

 

Carmeta Hodges Memorial Award

Created in memory of dedicated Nursing professor Cam Hodges, the award is Awarded to a first-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student on the Kingston Campus. Preference will be given for a student from Canada's northern territories or remote communities. The applicant must demonstrate financial need. The award is renewable for subsequent years of study, providing the recipient continues to meet the award criteria.

 

Cataraqui Conservation Foundation Bursary

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the Energy Systems Engineering Technology or Technician, Wind Turbine Technician, Civil Engineering Technology, or Environmental Technician program. Applicants must be residents from 1 of the 11 Municipalities of the Cataraqui Conservation catchment area (from the Brockville to Greater Napanee) and will have demonstrated academic achievement and the initiative to make a positive impact on the environment.

 

Cunningham Swan Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in Office Administration Legal or Law Clerk Programs at the Kingston Campus who has exhibited professionalism, strong academic and interpersonal skills and who has an interest in their local community as demonstrated through classroom, volunteer work or other initiatives. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Dame Sylvia Burkinshaw D St. J R.N. Memorial Bursary

Awarded to returning students enrolled full-time in a Nursing Program at the Kingston Campus. Applicants will have demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to the objects and purposes of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem namely: The encouragement of all that makes for the spiritual and moral strengthening of humankind in accordance with the first great principle of the Order embodied in the Motto "Pro Fide"; and The encouragement and promotion of all work of humanity and charity for the relief of persons in sickness, distress, suffering or danger, without distinction of race, class or creed and the extension of the second great principle of the Order embodied in the Motto "Pro Utilitate Hominum". Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Davies Charitable Foundation Health Science Student Award

Awarded to students in their final year of study in the Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science or Veterinary Technology Program. Based on above average academic standing and a commitment to helping others through volunteer efforts and community service. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Dayna Sparkes Memorial Fund

Created in memory of Dayna Sparkes, and awarded to a student whose warmth and generous spirit is evident in working with others, and whose natural empathy will ensure a future career as a caring and compassionate RPN. Preference will be given to a student who is working to achieve their goals while managing a chronic illness.

 

Diana Drury Athletic Bursary

Awarded to a Varsity Athlete on the Kingston campus who maintains at least a "B" average; who excels in their sport, leads by example, is a valuable member of their team and is a role model on and off the playing field while representing St. Lawrence College.

 

Diane Johnston Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student in the Business-Marketing or Business-Administration Marketing program who has overcame economic challenges in order to attend post-secondary education. The recipient will demonstrate commitment and passion by applying themselves at their very best throughout their program. The successful recipient will be selected not based on academic achievement, but recognition of their tenacity for improvement by their faculty members.

 

District 8 Road Supervisors Association Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in the Civil Engineering Technology Program or the Electrical Engineering Technician Program, on the Kingston Campus. Applicants must be a resident of Frontenac, Hastings, Leeds & Grenville, Lennox and Addington or Prince Edward County. Applicants will have demonstrated above average academic achievement, school and/or community involvement, volunteerism. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Doc's Eternal Venture Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in the Veterinary Technology Program, at the Kingston campus. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated an interest in caring for large animals, such as a horse or cow, through secular and/or volunteer work, or therapeutic horse-riding. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Donaldson/Hamel/McLaughlin/Sudds Bursary

Awarded to a final year Veterinary Technology student who has demonstrated skills in small animal handling, has a sound knowledge base and exhibits compassion for animals in a professional manner. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Donna Bryant Memorial Entrance Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student who is a single parent and has returned to school and enrolling in a full-time program at St. Lawrence College Kingston campus.

 

Doyle/McAlpine Memorial Bursary

Awarded to full-time students on any campus who are single parents and demonstate a commitment to learning and a positive attitude towards their studies. Applicants must demonstate financial need.

 

Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe and Family Award

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in any Applied Behavioural Analysis program within the Centre for Behavioural Studies. Preference will be given to students in the Behavioural Science Technology program and those who have shown resiliency in their pursuit of education.

 

Dupont Canada Biotech Award

Awarded to a returning Biotech student with a keen interest in the environment and above average academic standing. Applicant Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Elaine Armstrong Finish Line Bursary

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the final semester of any program on Kingston campus. Preference will be given to students from the South Eastern Ontario region. Applicants must demonstrate financial need

 

Electrical Contractors Association - Apprenticeship Award

Awarded to a graduating student at each level (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced) of the Electrician - Construction and Maintenance - Advanced - Apprenticeship Program and has the highest overall average. The recipient must be indentured to the Quinte St. Lawrence Local Apprenticeship Committee for the Electrical Trade, be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Elizabeth Reid Cunningham Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program on the Kingston campus who has persevered in the face of adversity to achieve and maintain academic success. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Empire Life Bursary

Awarded to a returning student in the School of Business on the Kingston campus who has demonstrated academic success and who best exemplifies the values of integrity, innovation and teamwork through their studies and their interactions with fellow students. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

EOTEC Trades and Technology Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student in a trades or technology program. Applicants from Eastern Ontario (Hastings County-east) who will be attending St. Lawrence College directly from high school. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Follett of Canada Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in any program, on the Kingston Campus. Applicants will have demonstrated above average academic achievement, school and/or community involvement, volunteerism. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation Bursary

Awarded to residents of the Township of North, Central, or South Frontenac or the Frontenac Islands, who have been accepted into a full-time Technology, Skilled Trades or Apprenticeship Program at the Kingston Campus. Applicants must have demonstrated school or community involvement/volunteerism and good academic standing. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Gaia Power's Eric Welbanks Student of the Year Award

Created in honour of Eric Welbanks, awarded to any returning full-time student on the Kingston campus who demonstrates great potential for success, commitment to their academics and leadership at their school or in the community. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need.

 

Garth Elliott Memorial Award

Awarded to students in their graduating year in the Veterinary Technology Program who demonstrate leadership skills, above average and/or natural aptitude in their field of study, and an ability to collaborate with and support their classmates in their studies.

 

Genge/Hannah/Wallis Medical Laboratory Science Award

Awarded to a student in their final year (3rd) of the Medical Laboratory Science Program. Applicants must demonstrate academic and practical excellence with an overall average of 75% in the second year of the Medical Laboratory Science Program. Applicants are required to outline their career aspirations, achievements, how they would benefit by receiving this award and any special circumstances to be considered. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Girls Inc. Limestone Bursary

Awarded to clients of Girls Inc. Limestone (formerly Big Sisters of Kingston) who are enrolled full-time at St. Lawrence College. Applicant must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Green McGinn Award

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program on the Kingston Campus. Applicants must have demonstrated commitment to community-building and belonging among their fellow students. Preference given to a student who has identified as LGBTQQ2S+ status.

 

Helen Van Dusen Prize

Awarded to a second year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student on the Kingston campus based on excellence in the practice of nursing encompassing an all-round ability as a student nurse in his or her first year, and as a professional.

 

Ian Wilson Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in any Business program on the Kingston campus. Preference will be given to a graduate of Ernestown Secondary School, have good academic performance, and demonstrated initiative through community and/or school involvement. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

If I Knew Then....Bursary Award

Awarded to a returning International student enrolled full-time in the Business program in the School of Business, Kingston campus. Applicants must have demonstrated commitment to college and community involvement through club membership, volunteering, or leadership with on-campus or off-campus projects. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Information Systems Student Council Bursary

Awarded to a Computer Systems Technician student and Computer Programming and Analysis student in their final year who have maintained full-time status, and who are recognized by their peers as a supportive and helpful student within their program. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

iStorm New Media Scholarship

Awarded to a third year student in the Graphic Design Program who has demonstrated above average academic achievement, leadership qualities, innovation and creativity. Students must have financial need.

 

J.L. Richards and Associates Ltd. Scholarship

Awarded to one student enrolled in their final year of study in the Civil Engineering Program, who has achieved above average academic standing, demonstrated leadership capabilities through a commitment to extracurricular activities in sports, student government or community development. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

James S. Brown Bursary

Awarded to a returning student on the Kingston campus who is involved with community service. Applicants must an Ontario Resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Janice L. Sutton Bursary

Awarded to a mature female student first-year or returning to a program that possesses practical skills on the Kingston campus. Preference will be given to a student in the Carpentry Techniques, Bachelor of Science Nursing, Health Care Administration, Practical Nursing, or Office Administration program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Jay and Toby Abramsky Award

Awarded to a Kingston resident who is a graduate of the Limestone District School Board, in their first year of any full-time Business program at the Kingston Campus and who demonstrates great potential for success, commitment to their academics and leadership at their school or in the community. Applicants must be an Ontario Resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Jeanine Perry Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a student in the first year of the Veterinary Technology Program who has demonstrated a commitment to the profession of animal care and achieved high academic standing. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Jessica Morris Memorial Award

Created in memory of Jessica Morris, awarded to a student who has completed their first-year Medical Laboratory Science and has shown potential and a keen interest in the health care diagnostic field through their demonstrated drive, hard work and enthusiasm. Applicants should provide evidence of these qualities by outlining their personal goals and aspirations and examples of previous personal achievements. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Karen Rees-Milton Memorial Award

Created in memory of Karen Rees-Milton, beloved friend and colleague, a life-long learner, who worked hard and enjoyed life. Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the Computer Programming and Analysis program at the Kingston campus, with preference for a female student and those with interest in data base development/inter-disciplinary applications. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Ken W. Bucci Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a Civil Engineering Technology student who is either returning to the program or, is in their final semester at SLC and will be continuing their education at Queen's University - specifically in the bridging program with Queen's Civil Engineering program. The successful applicant must be a mature student who has been out of high school for at least two years. In addition to financial need, the student must have demonstrated a strong commitment to self-improvement through academic participation, leadership, and generosity within the civil program and community at large.

 

Kincore Holdings Sustainable Development Technologies Award

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in the Energy Systems Engineering Technician or Technology Program on the Kingston campus. Applicants must have demonstrated above average academic achievement and a passion for sustainable energy through involvement in school and/or community projects. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Boys and Girls Club Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program who has either benefited from membership with the club, served as part-time staff, or contributed to the positive development of youth through volunteer activities with the association. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Construction Association Bursary

Awarded to a returning full-time student pursuing a professional designation or skilled trade and apprenticeships program specific to the construction and building industry at the Kingston campus. Applicants will have demonstrated a strong work ethic and outstanding skill in their first year of studies. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Home Builders Association Bursary

Awarded to a student enrolled in a carpentry, plumbing or electrical program at the Kingston campus of St. Lawrence College. Applicant is required to be in good academic standing and be able to demonstrate leadership through involvement in their school or community engagement. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Hydro Award for Sustainable Energy Leadership

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the Energy Systems Engineering program who has demonstrated above average academic achievement and leadership through supporting sustainable energy education and deployment within the student population and Kingston community. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Police Chief's Award

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in the Police Foundations Program, on the Kingston Campus, who has demonstrated a commitment to the profession and serves as a role model for his/her peers. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston Police Leadership Award

Awarded to a second-year Police Foundations student who has displayed leadership qualities, the need to achieve and continuous improvement throughout their first year. In order to be considered for this award the student must meet the minimum standards as set out by the program and be continuing into second year at St. Lawrence College in Police Foundations.

 

Kingston Student Association Bursary

Awarded to one returning student from each Academic School who has maintained full-time status and demonstrated student leadership through participation in student government, athletics or volunteering in their community. Applicants must be an Ontario Resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need

 

Kingston Vet Tech Award

Awarded to a student in the Vet Tech Program on Kingston Campus. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kingston-Frontenac Rotary Club Bursary

Awarded to a returning student who has maintained full-time status and demonstrated community leadership and civic responsibility through participation in their community. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Kinsmen Club of Kingston Award

Awarded to a first-year student, under the age of 24, in any full-time program, who is economically disadvantaged and has good academic standing. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Lansdowne Tel Bursary

Awarded to a returning student enrolled full-time in the Computer Systems Technician or Computer Programming & Analysis Program, on the Kingston campus. Applicants will have demonstrated above average academic achievement, school and/or community involvement and volunteerism. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

LifeLabs Bursary

Awarded to a returning second year student enrolled full-time in the Medical Laboratory Science Program, on the Kingston Campus. Applicants will have demonstrated above average academic achievement, consistently high marks in the practical component of all courses, enthusiasm, leadership and teamwork skills. Applicants must be an Ontario resident.

 

Linda Ann Daly and Walter Fenlon Indigenous and International Bursary

Awarded to an international or indigenous student studying full-time at the Kingston campus who demonstrates exceptional leadership and academic potential. The successful applicant will have overcome adversity to pursue their education in Canada at St. Lawrence College.

 

Long/Gordanier Bursary for Hairstyling

Awarded to a student in the Hairstyling program on the Kingston Campus whose dedication to their studies is evident through both academic standing and work ethic. Preference will be given to a mature student. Must demonstrate financial need.

 

Lorne Weary - Holiday Inn Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student in the Hotel & Restaurant Management Program at the Kingston Campus who has demonstrated above average academic achievement, community leadership and a commitment to the profession. Proof of these qualities must be outlined within the application. Applicants Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Lou Tepper Memorial Bursary Fund

Created by the estate of the late Louis H. Tepper Q.C. LSM, a distinguished Trial Lawyer, awarded to a mature student, who is a first-year or returning student in any full-time program on the Kingston campus. Applicants should outline their decision to return to school and their future career goals. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Louise Porter Memorial Bursary

Awarded to a single mother in their first-year of any full-time program at St. Lawrence College Kingston campus. Applicants must submit a 500 word letter describing the qualifications and experiences which she considers to make her a worthy candidate for this award. The Hudson Burnbrae Foundation was established in 1973 by the Hudson family and their family business, Burnbrae Farms as per the wishes of Mareta Hudson. Her sister, Lillian Hudson was a nurse who ended her long career as the Dean of Public Health at Columbia University where she had taught for over 30 years. One of her many achievements was to lead a delegation to China post WW2 to assist them in setting up a public health system. She was at the forefront of the establishment of nursing as a regulated, respected profession.

Cruden Award

Awarded to a returning student at the Kingston, Brockville or Cornwall Campus with a documented learning disability. A student must have completed at least two semesters successfully and has functioned effectively as a role model for other students, overcoming the barriers often associated with a learning disability.

 

Douglas Arthur de Pencier Bursary

Created by the Estate of Mary Marlene Joan de Pencier in memory of her brother Douglas Arthur de Pencier. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in their first year of their first undergrad program whose residence during the two years preceding the award was within the limits of the Geographic Townships of Oxford-on-Rideau and Wolford in the County of Grenville, the Township of Montague in the County of Lanark and the Township of Marlborough in the County of Carleton. If in any year there are not suitable candidates meeting this requirement the bursary will be awarded to students whose residence during the two preceding years was in rural Eastern Ontario. The award is renewable for up to 3 subsequent years, provided a minimum GPA of 2.0 is maintained and financial need remains evident.

Awarded to a student enrolled full-time in any program on the Kingston, Brockville or Cornwall campus. The candidate must be an international student from Pakistan, a Permanent Resident (landed immigrant) from Pakistan, or a Canadian of Pakistani descent. Applicants must demonstrate above average academic achievement.

 

Patricia and Bernard Colfe Aboriginal First Generation Bursary

Awarded to a full-time Aboriginal First Generation student in any program with good academic standing that has made a contribution to their program; student must self-identify as an Aboriginal person and must be an individual whose parents have not attended postsecondary studies. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Patricia Jane Ransom Memorial Bursary in Nursing

Created in memory of Patricia Jane Ransom (Nursing 1984), awarded to a returning Nursing student of any campus who is a mature student and demonstrates financial need. Preference will be for a student interested in pursuing a career in mental health nursing.

 

Personal Support Worker Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at the Brockville, Cornwall or Kingston campus. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Pittsburgh Community Benefit Fund Bursary

Awarded to first-year or returning students who currently reside in, or whose parents currently reside in, the former Pittsburgh Township geographic area (as the boundaries existed in 1997) and who have demonstrated financial need. Applicants must provide specific address information for parental residence. Applicants must be Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Respect RX Pharmacy Perseverance Bursary

Awarded to a first-year or returning student enrolled full-time in any program on any campus who has persevered and or is working through hardships to achieve success in their academic journey. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

SLC Retirees Bursary

Created by the St. Lawrence College Retirees' Association and awarded to a first-year student in any full-time program, who is a single parent and who has demonstrated leadership qualities in school and/or through volunteer activities in their community. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Stark Family Entrance Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student, from Prince Edward County, in any full-time program on the Kingston, Brockville or Cornwall campus. Applicants will have demonstrated a high degree of school and/or community involvement. Must be an Ontario resident, Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.

 

Student Wellness Team - Perseverance and Resilience Award

Awarded to a graduating student enrolled full-time in any program on any campus that has demonstrated perseverance and resiliency in overcoming challenges and adversity in pursuit of their academic goals.

 

Syndicau Bursary

Created in memory of Tan Shu Tien for her passion and love of education, awarded to a returning student in a science, technology, trades or engineering program on the Kingston campus that exhibits ambition and tenacity through high academic achievement and community involvement. Preference will be given to female students and recipients must demonstrate financial need.

 

Terri McDade Dual Credit Student Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student who has successfully completed a PASS Dual Credit program at St. Lawrence College and are planning to attend any full-time program at any SLC campus. Recipient must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is the first generation of their family to attend post-secondary.

 

Volker Thomsen New Canadian Opportunities Bursary

Awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time in any program or apprenticeship on the Kingston, Brockville or Cornwall campus. The candidate must be a New Canadian Citizen (first or second generation), a Permanent Resident (landed immigrant), who has lived in Ontario for the past 12 months. Applicants should explain their eligibility for this award by outlining their previous country of residence. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Women in STEM Bursary

Awarded to a returning female student enrolled full-time in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) program on any campus. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
