St. Lawrence College (SLC) received a donation of electrical equipment worth some $38,000 to be used in several skilled trades programs on its Kingston campus. The donation was made by Dalton Electric & Supply Ltd., Eastern Ontario’s largest independent electrical distributor, offering residential, commercial, and industrial electrical solutions.
The donation is comprised of electrical equipment, including fixtures, bulbs, lamps, plates, fuses, ballasts, switches, cables, connectors, detectors, relays, sensors, tools, coveralls/gloves, and more. The equipment will be used in several SLC programs including Industrial Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technician, Energy Systems Engineering Technician, Wind Turbine Technician, and Instrumentation Technician.
“In today’s construction and industrial environments, technology changes quickly and our goal is to educate our students in the current work environment, and to be prepared for the future,” said Jay Krawchuk, Program Coordinator, Electrical Engineering Technician at SLC. “We are grateful for the donation of equipment that helps us provide up-to-date materials and supplies to create the best learning environment for our students.”
Daltco Electric is a longtime donor to SLC, going back to 1999. Peter Dalton, President of Daltco Electric, served on the volunteer cabinet of SLC’s Uncommon Campaign, the largest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by the College, and was the first donor in support of the renovation of Newcourt House for the Centre for Behavioural Studies.
