SLC invites proposals for use of art gallery on Brockville campus

slc logo

St. Lawrence College is inviting community organizations in Brockville and the surrounding region to submit partnership proposals for use of the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery, a modern gallery and exhibition space located in the front atrium of SLC's Brockville campus. The College is seeking a partnership that honours the vision of the Gallery’s namesake and to continue to support Brockville’s thriving arts community.

The gallery was established in 2007 in part through a generous bequest from the estate of Marianne van Silfhout, a graduate of the SLC’s Fine Arts program, and supported by other community donors, and serves as a vibrant cultural hub for the visual arts. Marianne’s belief that wilderness adventure, education, and art are deeply connected remains central to the Gallery’s mission.

The College is inviting creative partnership proposals from local organizations that:

· Align with the Gallery’s artistic mission and community-oriented purpose,
· Present ideas for using the space, such as exhibitions, receptions, cultural events, or workshops,
· Describe how your organization will contribute to covering operational and maintenance costs. (Facility-related expenses are approximately $10 per square foot and include cleaning, maintenance, parking, engineering, safety, utilities, waste management, and administrative support.)
· Include a proposed financial contribution or revenue-sharing model to help ensure the Gallery remains a sustainable community resource.
· Acknowledge that St. Lawrence College is a student-centred community college.

This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with St. Lawrence College to expand access to arts and culture while recognizing the need for shared responsibility in the care and operation of this valued community space.

Interested organizations are invited to submit a proposal by November 28, 2025, to vpstudentsuccess@sl.on.ca. Proposals should clearly detail the intended use of the space, community impact, and the proposed financial or in-kind contribution to support the partnership. Successful proposals will meet the Ontario government’s requirements outlined in the Entrepreneurial activities binding policy directive for colleges of applied arts and technology.
