St. Lawrence College (SLC) will host a showcase to celebrate the success of its research activities, with presentations from SLC faculty researchers and students, industry partners, economic development partners, as well as government grant agencies. The event, Research Happens Here, will be held on January 31 from 1 pm to 4 pm.

“We want to bring all of these groups together to highlight the research conducted the College, as well as showcase the products and services created with our partners through applied and academic research,” said John Conrad, Director, Innovation and Business Engagement at SLC. “We also want to encourage our faculty and students to learn how they can get involved.”

Research Happens Here includes tours of SLC’s Sustainable Energy Applied Research Centre, academic and industry research presentations, and beer tasting courtesy of MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate research at our college, particularly after being named one of Canada’s top 50 research colleges this year by Research Infosource,” said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO of SLC. “As an educational institution, research plays an important part of our commitment to innovation and excellence in academics. Our students benefit from opportunities to be engaged in research at the College, which provides them with real-world learning, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of their field of study which will help them in their future careers.”
