Students in SLC’s Music Theatre Performance program will take to Zoom for virtual performances of The Drowsy Chaperone this Friday, December 4 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 5 at 2 p.m. The production features second- and third-year Music Theatre Performance students, who have been studying their craft through alternate delivery this fall. Tickets are available online for the performance, which attendees can enjoy from the comfort of their own home.
The Drowsy Chaperone has won five Tony Awards including Best Book and Best Score, the most of any Canadian musical. The show is a charming and off-beat homage to the musicals of the 1920’s with a combination of modern and classical musical humour.
The production is directed by Thomas Alderson, a self-proclaimed theatre nerd from Grand Bend, Ontario and graduate of Sheridan College with an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Music Theatre Performance program. Thomas’ work as a performer, director, and assistant director has taken him all over Canada and the United States. He has worked on national touring productions and on shows with many major Canadian theatre companies.
Music direction is by Aaron Eyre, a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University with degrees in Composition and Theatre and the recipient of the NUMUS Award for Composition for The Poison Tree (New Art Quartet).

Tickets are also available for the upcoming show, Manifest, a compilation of brand-new theatrical offerings written, choreographed, composed, edited, performed, and conceived by the students of the SLC ensemble, "The Manifest Collective". Showtimes are Saturday, December 5, 7 pm, and Sunday, December 6, 2 pm.
