Spring Move-Out for SLC Students

Are you a student moving out of a Kingston dwelling? Do you need help?

Here is a handy checklist of things to do and places to call to dispose of unwanted items.

Pick them up at City Hall or the Student Association front desk ($2 each)

  • Utilities Kingston: Note: A minimum of five business days are necessary to ensure your account is closed on the date requested. You can do this online at http://utilitieskingston.com/Accounts/CloseAccount or by phone at 613-546-0000. (Hydro One electricity customers can call 1-800-434-1235. Union Gas customers can call 1-888-774-3111).
  • Cogeco 1-800-267-9000
  • Bell Canada 613-310-2355 or www.bell.ca
  • Canada Post 1-800-267-1177 or www.canadapost.ca

(like broken desks and torn mattresses) at the Waste Management Transfer station at 62 St. Remy Place.

Ask your landlord to help or check the classifieds under rubbish/junk/waste for low-cost removal options.

Remember: Kingston does not have curbside pick-up of large items. Give what you can to charity and make a trip to the Waste Management Transfer station with the rest.

Giveaway Days are when you put items you no longer want out at the curb for someone who might like them. The City of Kingston's next Giveaway Day is on Saturday, April 21. Label your items "free" and put them out in front of your home. At the end of the day, bring any uncollected items back into your home. The City will NOT collect unwanted items left at the curb.

Get money for your used books at the College bookstore.
