Financial Supports

Financial Supports Available

There are various financial supports that students may be eligible for, depending on students’ situation, timing within the academic year, etc. While St. Lawrence College does its best to assist students in need, there may be situations where funding opportunities may not be available. Below is a summary of options; please click on the corresponding links or contact the appropriate personnel for more information.

The Ontario Student Assistance Program is available to domestic students who reside in Ontario for at least 12 months prior to the start of their academic program. This is the first step we ask domestic students to take if they are seeking some financial support. OSAP applications typically open in the spring for the fall semester and can be accessed by visiting: https://www.ontario.ca/page/osap-ontario-student-assistance-program

For more information, please visit SLC’s OSAP webpage: OSAP

As part of the OSAP process, if students identify as possessing a functional limitation or permanent disability which can be verified by a regulated health professional, they may be eligible for equipment and services, to help assist them in their educational journey at SLC. To begin this process, students can reach out to their Accessibility Advisor or Counsellor, or contact accessibility@sl.on.ca.

If students identify as possessing a functional limitation or permanent disability which can be verified by a regulated health professional, they may be eligible to apply for an approved reduced course load. To begin this process, students can reach out to their Accessibility Advisor or Counsellor, or contact accessibility@sl.on.ca.

The First Generation Student Bursary is an award provided to First Generation students with financial needs who are attending post-secondary and are the first member of their families to attend post-secondary studies. Applications typically open in the fall semester. For more information, email firstgeneration@sl.on.ca or visit: https://www.stlawrencecollege.ca/services/student-life/first-generation-students

To help alleviate the financial pressure the International Department of St. Lawrence College is happy to offer four types of merit-based scholarships to future and current international students. For more information, visit the Scholarships For International Students page.

There are a variety of external agencies and companies that may offer bursaries, scholarships, and awards to post-secondary students. We encourage students to inquire directly with these companies if they feel they are eligible or have questions about the criteria. Some of the external agencies are listed here: https://www.stlawrencecollege.ca/fees/bursaries-and-scholarships/external-awards

These funds are reserved for students facing acute, extenuating circumstances. Please note these are reviewed on a case-by-case scenario and may take up to one week to be assessed and there is no guarantee students will be awarded a bursary. Students can apply online through the SLC.me portal by going to the ‘Finances’ tab and clicking on the ‘Hardship Bursary – Domestic Students’ link.

If you are an International student, you can also apply online through the SLC.me portal by going to the ‘Finances’ tab and clicking on the ‘Hardship Bursary – International Students’ link.
