POSITION SUMMARY

Reports to Department Manager, and under the guidance of the designate, the student incumbent works up to 30-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends), providing assistance with general maintenance and cleaning to gain work experience while supporting the operations of the department. The successful incumbent demonstrates strong interpersonal, and communication skills, combined with an ability to work under pressure and problem-solve while working independently. 

The incumbent will assist and work under the direction of Facility Management staff to complete a variety of light maintenance and cleaning projects on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Light Maintenance responsibilities including dry walling, painting, hanging signs, small furniture moves, familiar with power tools and assist in all trades etc
  • Light cleaning of student rooms and public spaces
  • Inside work; duties outside
  • On occasion may be asked to perform other duties as assigned, such as special functions (i.e., orientation, convocation, open house, awards dinners, etc.).

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow written plans.
  • Ability to meet specified deadlines.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management, strong organizational skills, and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • General knowledge of standard computer applications (MS word, Teams, & Email).
  • High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements: 

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.

Salary & Terms

  • Start Rate: $17.20/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
  • Hours per week: 30.00

Terms of Employment:

  • Must be  returning to Full-Time studies in the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
