Human Trafficking Awareness Day: What You Need to Know
February 22 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day, and according to the Government of Ontario, is one of the fastest-growing crimes worldwide. In our own communities, the 401 corridor is known as a conduit to transport people between Toronto and Montreal; in Canada, over half of reported cases of human trafficking incidents occur in Ontario. 
Reflections on White Fragility: SLC Panel Discussion
Exploring white fragility is uncomfortable because our internal reflection may reveal feelings of shame or dissonance. It can be challenging internal dialogue to engage in, but important. A few of our SLC employees have started and have been on the journey of reflecting on white fragility and they are gracious and brave to share their reflections with staff and faculty to start the conversation.

The symposium on June 7, 2023, will be discussing how the nursing profession is moving forward in a post COVID health care system. Diving into how nurses, faculty and students are overcoming challenges using innovative strategies looking at building resilience and self-care, and how to promote diverse and strong workforce that can respond more effectively to patients 
Earthquake in Turkey and Syria
The earthquake in Turkey and Syria and the rising number of casualties is staggering and heartbreaking. We live in a global community, and we know that many people in our own SLC community, both students and employees, are personally affected by this tragedy; we empathize with their anguish as they await updates on the safety of their loved ones.
Learning Connections Conference 2023: Theme & Call for Proposals
The LCC Planning Team is pleased to announce a few updates on this year’s conference. We have explored many themes over the last few years but wanted to return to our roots for LCC 2023 as we searched for a message that would help celebrate our culture. We are also pleased to share that the Call for Proposals is now OPEN and invite the SLC community to submit their ideas to the Planning Team.
