AMC Field Placement: Real-World Experience in Action
This semester, as part of my field placement with St. Lawrence College Communications and Government Relations, I’ve had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to several projects within the communications department. I’ve been able to work alongside a great team who have taught me how to navigate everything from crafting compelling stories to understanding internal and external communications. As well as lots of great reading recommendations!
Human Trafficking Awareness Day, February 22, 2025
SLC demonstrated its commitment to Human Trafficking education and awareness in December 2024, as we hosted a training day on campus for our staff and community partners, with support from the Campus Safety Grant. The focus of this day was learning related to supporting Indigenous survivors of human trafficking. The group left with increased knowledge of approaches to cultural safety and tools to support Indigenous survivors, including medicine bags to keep on hand in our offices.

WeldHer Program Celebrates First Graduating Class at SLC Kingston
St. Lawrence College's Kingston campus celebrated the inaugural graduation of its WeldHer program last Thursday, January 30. The initiative, which launched in October, saw an impressive 90% completion rate, with nine out of ten enrolled women successfully finishing the program.  The WeldHer program, developed in partnership with KEYS in Kingston, represents a groundbreaking effort to increase female representation in the welding industry. The comprehensive curriculum equips participants with essential skills and knowledge, preparing them for both traditional career paths and entrepreneurial ventures in the trade.
