In-Person Leadership Events Boost Student Engagement
This November, the Student Engagement team hosted a Lunch & Learn Leadership Series across all three campuses, attracting over 130 students eager to develop leadership skills and connect with inspiring guest speakers. 
Bringing Anatomy to Life: Innovative Esthetics Teaching through Play and Reflection
Teaching anatomy and physiology to esthetics students presents a unique challenge, especially when scheduled for 7:30 am on Wednesday and Thursday mornings!   Coming into the  Esthetics program, we have learners with varying degrees of familiarity with the subject. To address this, I embraced the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create a dynamic, inclusive learning environment. By combining traditional methods, hands-on activities, interactive technology, and reflective practices, I transformed the classroom into a space where students not only learned but also deeply connected with the material. 
National Day of Remembrance and Action for Violence Against Women
Every December 6, we observe the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The day was established by the Parliament of Canada to mark the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, who were killed because of their sex.  
Global Impact: Students Bring Entrepreneurial Solutions to Irish Charity’s Challenges
During their visit to Ireland (October 20 - November 2, 2024) students in the Entrepreneurial Thinking in a Global Context course had a unique opportunity to work with Stephen Ryan-Doyle, the founder and CEO of the Irish charitable organization; 'Let's Fund It'.     The students met with Mr. Ryan-Doyle in the boardroom of our partner institution, the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) and heard a presentation about his organization and some of the challenges that have emerged due to the rapid interest and growth in the services his charity provides. 
Surge to Success: A Strong Start for First-Year Students 
This fall, our post-orientation programming, Surge to Success, welcomed first-year students with an engaging eight-week initiative. Designed to help students successfully transition to college, the program provided opportunities to build resourcefulness, connect with the SLC community, and immerse themselves in campus life.
