Students Hold Annual Accounting Hackathon
The graduating class of the Business Administration – Accounting program in Kingston recently held the seventh annual Accounting Hackathon in collaboration with the national charity, Rise. In this action learning event, student teams worked with an entrepreneur to resolve a financial business issue. Entrepreneurs participating in the event were located across Ontario and work with Rise, the only national charity dedicated to helping people with mental health conditions or addiction achieve financial independence through self-employment or small business ownership. Rise provides resources, mentorship, and micro-financing to eliminate barriers, improve life outcomes, and strengthen communities.
Students Build Duck Boxes at Cooper Marsh  
In a collaborative effort to enhance local wildlife habitat, first-year students from SLC's Environmental Technician program recently partnered with the Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) for a hands-on project at Cooper Marsh, a conservation area in South Lancaster. The students worked alongside RRCA staff to construct and install duck boxes, contributing to ongoing habitat restoration efforts in the area.
LCC Introduces Author and Entrepreneur, Zahra Al-Harazi

KFL&A Public Health Update for Post-Secondary Students on IMD
Kingston campus students received an email with information from KFL&A Public Health on Invasive Meningococcal Disease (IMD) and specifically meningococcal B (MenB). Anyone interested in more information about these infections can visit kflaph.ca/IMD for details.  
Awards of Excellence Nominees 
SLC is proud to have contributed seven nominations for the 2024 CICan Awards of Excellence which promote excellence of Canadian colleges and institutes and showcase the extraordinary contributions of individuals. Winners will be announced in April at the 2024 CICan Connection Conference, and are recognized at three levels of Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
