The LCC Planning Team is pleased to share that we will be welcoming Shane N. Young as our Day 1 keynote to the conference this year. Shane is an educator, PhD Candidate (Trent), and Joseph-Armand Bombardier Scholar of Mi'kmaw and of Newfoundland settler ancestry. He is a member of the Qalipu First Nation on the southwestern coast of Newfoundland, where he was born and raised, and has been living in Tkaronto since 2006. His arrival at LCC comes at a pivotal time as SLC continues to explore this year’s theme of “reconnect, reflect, and recharge” and its intersections with Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being.

SLC Community and Justice Services student Maria Eduarda Machado Ferreira de Castro attended the Change the World Model United Nations (CWMUN) Conference in New York March 24-26. Maria was assigned to represent Costa Rica on the UNICEF Committee, where they discussed measures to take urgent action to reverse the devastating impact of COVID-19 on children and young people.

The Innovation Hub is meant to develop, deliver, and support activities that develop the innovative capacity of staff, students, and community members under the banner of the Craig Centre for Innovation. Learn how to book space at the Innovation Hub.

This year, in its first year as a community partner with St. Lawrence College, Hawkesbury-based Rogue Media initially took on five placement students from the Computer Programmer Analyst (CPA) program. The Kingston students worked together as a team on the development of the Students on Campus app, a social media platform designed specifically for college and university students.

We are looking forward to our spring semester starting on May 9 for several reasons, and this message is to equip SLC students with insight to help ensure the semester is a successful one. There are three things we would like our student community to know, as the spring term begins.
