Secret Path Week & Downie-Wenjack Legacy Space Openings
Gord Downie was the front man and lyricist of The Tragically Hip until his death from brain cancer on October 17, 2017. Gord’s last solo project, Secret Path, tells Chanie Wenjack’s story.  Secret Path Week, October 17 to 22, commemorates the legacies of Gord and Chanie and aims to inspire Canadians to respond to Gord Downie’s call to “Do Something” to build a better Canada.   Secret Path Week is especially meaningful this year, as members of Chanie’s extended family will be attending the opening of our new Downie-Wenjack Legacy Spaces in Brockville and Cornwall on October 17 and 18, respectively. The openings will take place at 1 pm at each campus library, and all are welcome to attend.
SLC Commemorates National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Phyllis Webstad’s goal in founding Orange Shirt Day (now National Day for Truth and Reconciliation), was to facilitate ongoing conversations about the devastating effects of Residential Schools on Indigenous People. The Honour Walk brought together over 200 members of our college family on our Kingston campus, 45 in Cornwall, and 40 in Brockville to have those conversations and engage in a meaningful act of reconciliation. Students, staff, and faculty were united not just by their orange shirts, but by their desire to be part of the journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
Participate in Cyber Security Awareness Month
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month (Cyber Month) at SLC, an internationally recognized campaign designed to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe online. This month offers a valuable opportunity for the SLC community—especially employees—to learn how to protect their digital assets, make smart digital decisions, and safeguard the college's systems and information.
Sustainability Month at SLC!
Join the Sustainability department in celebrating SLC’s fourth annual Sustainability Month this October. Each week of October, we will explore sustainability themes that have a positive impact on our community and planet.
Exciting Launch: The St. Lawrence Experience Record Is Now Live!
This semester marks an exciting milestone for St. Lawrence College as we officially launch the St. Lawrence Experience Record (SER), a new initiative that recognizes students’ involvement outside the classroom and supports their career readiness. SER offers students a unique opportunity to track and display their experiences, build new skills, and reflect on their personal growth.
