This is SLC: Our College News

Many news outlets are reporting organized protests and counter protests being planned for communities across Ontario today. I wanted to inform SLC students and employees of potential travel delays to campus caused by traffic and/or protest activities and address the fact that the nature of the protests do not align with our college values. While we currently don’t expect any impact to campus operations, we will share an update if anything changes. 

Consent Awareness Week, September 18-22, is a nation-wide effort started by Courage to Act to educate Canadians on what it means to give consent. The first six weeks of school have been designated as the “Red Zone,” as there is an increase in sexual and gender-based violence at post-secondary schools. It is important that the conversation of consent goes beyond the first six weeks of school and expands into all relationships, not just intimate ones.

Congratulation to all the employees and graduates from SLC represented on the Top 40 under 40 lists in Kingston with nine recipients, and 11 in Brockville.

With the fall semester about to begin, SLC is ready to support all new and returning international students with dedicated support, services, and programming. 

Recycling is a good way to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, but the best way to make a difference is to REDUCE and REUSE! You can do your part to reduce and reuse by joining the SLC community in the zero-waste movement through the Cano program.
